Are you tired of mass=produced products that are made with the barest minimum of materials? Looking for a special item, that has been closely inspected and cared for through each step of the process?
Each of my products begins with an idea. Occasionally I will start to get a new image in my head of something I would like to make. I then think on it for a few days or months, working out a clearer picture of what it is I'm wanting and how it will translate to real life.
Then I look for materials. Often I use things I have around already, but sometimes if I don't have what I am picturing, I will spend time (sometimes hours or days) searching for just the right material for the job.
Once I have the ingredients I need, I begin the construction process. This often involves starting and restarting over and over again - making sure every piece works toward my intended design. Through this process I will analyze every detail of my new item to make sure that it all works together to make a truly useful finished product.
When it's all finished, it's time for photos. I set up a makeshift studio in my home or yard, wherever I can find the best light depending on the time of year.
Once the photos are edited, it's time for me to brainstorm again - the listing descriptions! I try to note the facts that matter about each piece, while keeping it concise and not too distracting. (If you have questions about details of any piece in my shop - don't hesitate to ask! I'd love to talk with you about them.)
I really enjoy my work. I hope you will appreciate my desire to bring a refreshing change to the market - I'm not looking to cut corners and save pennies everywhere I can. I want to make things that last and impress everyone who sees them.
I learned to crochet and knit when I was very young, and over the years practiced here and there. However, I didn't like the way crocheted items usually looked, so finally I decided to try to make something different. I've worked to create unique designs using uncommon stitches to make eye-catching pieces. I improve my processes with every new project, and each piece I list shows small details that convey the effort and the time I put in to making them each a work of art!
Opening an Etsy shop has been a dream of mine for several years, but it wasn't until we left the US and began to travel in the UK and Europe that the idea really began to take root. I took inspiration from many of the small shops filled with beautiful garments and accessories from small artists in these countries. When I was residing with my family in France in 2019, I opened my first Etsy shop, Leshayet, and began to share my creations with the world. I eventually made the choice to branch out into two separate shops. Zebulun is the place where I list all my bags, coasters, scarves, and other accessories.
